EDINBURGH TOWN HOUSE

PROJECT DETAILS

This project came about through one of Scotland’s leading interior designers, Ian Smith Design Edinburgh, and the work was carried out alongside Edinburgh-based Laurence McIntosh, who specialise in architectural and bespoke joinery. They had been given the brief of transforming a run-down former hotel into a family home. The three-storey property had been completely stripped back to the brickwork and was in need of major refurbishment. The brief was fairly straightforward: the clients wanted a luxurious finish throughout the whole building, but without palatial formality – more of a classic contemporary feel.

The project took eight weeks, which was within the expected time frame – no mean feat when you consider that the former hotel had been stripped right back to the brickwork, and was transformed into a stunning, three-storey home within that time. Achieving this, especially having sourced the exact materials the client had in mind and creating the look and feel that the client was looking for, was a source of immense satisfaction for everyone at Stonecraft.
